Powering 3D Performance in Embedded Systems

The Challenge

Why this was hard

Embedded equipment has little memory and processing power, and it can't afford to fail. The client needed one 3D rendering engine that could display 3D designs across a wide range of embedded devices and still be crash-proof. It also had to run in PC emulation, so teams could build and test without the target hardware in hand.

Our Solution

How we solved it

We've worked inside the engine's full development cycle as an extended engineering team. We helped set up the development environment for both the embedded and PC emulation targets. On top of that we built core parts of the engine: text rendering components, post-processing components, emulators and the design tools teams use to author content for it.

Result & Impact

What came out of it

The engine now powers 3D display across many types of embedded equipment. Its PC emulation and design tools mean teams can build and check content before it ever reaches a device.
